About the Bujinkan Kosciusko Dojo

The Bujinkan Kosciusko Dojo offers traditional Japanese Martial Arts training with a focus on modern applications.

We believe it is necessary to uphold the traditions passed down from our ancestors in the martial arts. There is also great need in our modern society to train dedicated people who have the potential for great violence but have made the decision to live by compassion to protect themselves and those around them.

We live with rules and laws, this can give us a false sense of security, but the reality is in any society there are those that would use the weakness of others to make them prey.

At the Bujinkan Kosciusko Dojo we aim to fulfill the calling to preserve the past and prepare for the future. Training those who would accept the responsibility to become both dangerous and compassionate.

Senior Instructor - James McDairmant

My journey in martial arts began in 1990 under the guidance of Shihan Kyle Hayes and Shihan Robert F. Johnson. Over the years, I've balanced my training with a diverse career as an entrepreneur, business owner, engineer, husband, and father.I've had the privilege of training with some of the most exceptional martial artists in the world. Multiple trips to Japan to train at the source have deepened my understanding and appreciation for the art. While I don't claim to be invincible, over 30 years of consistent training and exploration have equipped me with the skills to navigate dangerous situations.However, the true measure of my martial arts journey lies in the stories of some my students who have shared how my teachings have empowered them to protect themselves and others in critical moments. These real-life experiences fuel my passion for sharing my knowledge and inspiring others.Personally, martial arts has instilled in me the courage to pursue my entrepreneurial dreams and provide for my family. The freedom and self-reliance that come with being self-employed are, in part, a result of my martial arts training. I can't imagine my life without it, as it has given me the confidence to take risks and achieve my goals.
